안녕하세요, 최하영입니다.

어려운 코비드 상황이지만 선교를 가게 되기까지의 과정을 함께 나누고자 합니다. 

주님의 은혜로 Chiropractor라는 전문과정 (뼈, 근육, 관절 교정)의 배움을 시작할 수 있었고 마칠 수 있었음에도 불구하고, 어느새 제 마음에는 제가 이룬 것만 같은 교만이 가득 차서 삶을 앞서 계획하며 타협하고 있었습니다.

그런데 올해 6월 졸업을 앞둔 마지막 학기 시점에 저의 연약함을 마주하며 마음이 와장창 무너지는 경험 가운데, 저로 하여금 처음 배움을 소망하게 하셨던 곳을 떠오르게 해주셨습니다. 그곳은 4년 전 태국선교 중 기도 심방을 했던 어느 한 집이었는데, 거기서 몸이 굳어 있던 소녀를 보고 더 알지 못해 도와줄 수 없는 안타까움에 마음속으로 한 기도가 있었습니다. 

"하나님, 몸에 대해 배우도록 허락해 주신다면 다시 이곳에 오고 싶습니다. 와서 제가 배운 것을 나누며 한없이 도울 수 있게 도와주세요" 

이 기도는 저와 하나님만 아는 약속이었는데, 그 약속을 제게 떠올려 주신 하나님께서는 제가 최선으로 해야 하는 부분도 있지만, 하나님의 영역이 있다는 것을 깨닫게 해 주시며 제 안에 평안한 마음을 주셨습니다. 

나의 최선도 중요하지만 제 삶엔 그보다 더 중요한 것이 있음을, 바로 주님과의 관계, 주님의 간섭 그리고 인도하심이 절실히 필요함을 깨닫게 하셨습니다.

그래서 삶의 선교를 시작하기에 앞서, 저를 처음 불러 주셨던 곳에 가서 그때 주셨던 마음과 첫사랑을 회복하고자 선교를 결단하게 되었습니다.

여전히 연약하고 부족하지만, 제 삶의 주인을 재조명하고 삶의 방향을 재조정할 수 있도록 함께 기도로 동역해 주세요. 그래서 캐나다에 돌아와서도 어디에 있든지 선교하는 마음으로 일상의 자리를 주님의 영역으로 내어드릴 수 있는 훈련의 시간이 되도록 중보 부탁드립니다.

“Dear God, help me learn more about ways to help this girl, and I want to come back here to help people like her.”   

This was the prayer I prayed during one of my mission trips to Thailand. In Thailand, we were visiting segregated homes located in mountain tops to pray. In one of the homes, I saw a paralyzed girl lying down on a wooden mat, staring at us helplessly. God had always given me a heart to care deeply about people with physical impairments and disability, so I was deeply moved. So, I prayed with a desire to learn more to help people like her. I have no doubt that this was a God-given desire. After the mission trip, I applied and got accepted to Chiropractic school, and God led me to the opportunity to learn more about the importance of human body movements and functions.  

He's been faithful throughout my education, both when learning was fun and when I wanted to give up.  

And, in His faithfulness, He has reminded me of this prayer near my graduation period. This reminder profoundly moved me, as I was grateful how He had heard my prayer and walked every step with me. So, I have decided to commit to mission.
